Children 18 years and above will be charged as adults at this property. Only issue was that the tub did not have any type of grab bar and was deep. Even my younger daughter had difficulty entering and exiting. Perhaps one of Palmer House’s greatest and most recognizable culinary contributions was the invention of the brownie. This year, the hotel will be celebrating the brownie’s 130th anniversary on December 8th, National Brownie Day. In 1893, Bertha Palmer tasked the Palmer House pastry chef Joseph Sehl with a dessert suitable for ladies attending the Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition.

Her request was simple, a cake-like confection that could easily be transported to the fair within a boxed lunch. The result was the Palmer House Brownie, made of chocolate to comprise a fudge-like density and topped with a decadent walnut and apricot glaze. The dessert first published reference as “the brownie” following the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, was when it appeared in the Sears Roebuck Catalog published in Chicago in 1898. Motto offers a micro-hotel with an urban vibe in prime global locations. A luxury collection of distinctive hotels and resorts offering singular service and local experiences. I also had a chance to check out some of the event venues, since I was at the hotel for a wedding. The main ballroom felt especially historic, but the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the catering was very good overall. The executive lounge offered an evening happy hour as well, including a full bar. I actually had to walk through the lounge to get to and from the elevators, which was fine most of the time, except when the space was packed for Sunday breakfast (not pictured).

Dining and Drinks

Hilton doesn't list the square footage for some room types, since they can vary significantly from one room to the next, given the historic nature of this particular hotel. The hotel's majesty diminished once the elevator doors opened up, leaving us in a long hallway that felt anything but hip. Ideally, I'd avoid parking a car if you can, though, given the sky-high parking fees — $55 for self-parking, or a whopping $82 per night for valet.

Check-in

Prices for cots and extra beds are not included in the total price, and will have to be paid for separately during your stay. Cancellation and prepayment policies vary according to accommodation type. Please enter the dates of your stay and check the conditions of your required room. I've stayed here every time I've been in Chicago & have never had a bad experience. Each of the 1,641 guest rooms is beautifully appointed with the latest conveniences and technologies, providing a glimpse of the extraordinary Palmer House legacy while providing modern comforts for a memorable stay in downtown Chicago.

Its proximity to major attractions, coupled with exceptional on-site amenities, makes The Palmer House Hilton a standout destination. Experience a throwback to the Prohibition era speakeasy, paying homage to this notorious period in Chicago’s illustrious history with a sophisticated lounge atmosphere bedecked with rotating digital historic imagery. The failed mobile check-in ended up working out in my favor, though, since I then used the chat tool to request an upgrade, landing myself an executive-level king room, free of charge. The hotel offered an upgrade to a Hip & Historic Suite for $100, and wouldn't budge on the price, despite some Hilton properties offering suites to Diamond members without an upgrade charge. Beyond the Mai Tai, Bergeron's other more famous drinks included the Fog Cutter and the Scorpion Bowl.[12] Both drinks were served in a specific and highly decorated mug or bowl. From stunning rooftop pools to family-friendly water parks, our hotels offer a variety of aquatic escapes for guests of all ages to enjoy during their stay.

Located within walking distance to Chicago's theater district, Navy Pier, and other top attractions, The Palmer House Hilton offers a luxurious and convenient stay in the heart of the city. Whether visiting for business or pleasure, guests will find themselves immersed in the rich history and vibrant culture of downtown Chicago. Scoring an upgrade to the executive floor made a big difference overall, since we could use the express elevators, but the lounge itself was overwhelmingly crowded, especially toward the end of Sunday breakfast and throughout the evening happy hours. Ultimately, while it's a decent business hotel, if a peaceful getaway is what you're after, Palmer House is not your spot. This double room is located on high floors, with private elevator access, upscale bath amenities, in-room premium WiFi (free). Featuring a dining area with a wet bar, this spacious one-bedroom suite offers handicap-accessible amenities and a separate seating area.

LLM workshops will be available for forum registrants to view on-demand in the digital forum platform, and a live Graduate Law Programs Workshop will be available during the digital forums. Each year, LSAC Law School Forums serve as invaluable opportunities for aspiring law students to learn about law school and connect with law school representatives.

The rooms and suites are thoughtfully designed to balance comfort and functionality perfectly. From standard guestrooms to accessible options, Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel, offers a range of authentic accommodations. However, only 13 days after its grand opening, the Palmer House fell victim to the Great Chicago Fire. Determined to rebuild his hotel, Potter secured a $1.7 million loan–negotiated on his signature alone. On November 8, 1873, the new Palmer House welcomed its first guests, marking the opening of what would become the nation’s longest continually operating hotel.

And historic it is — in fact, in the case of some of the public areas and ballrooms, I doubt much has changed since Hilton took over the property way back in 1945. Aside from the lightbulbs, perhaps, and property-wide Wi-Fi. In recent years the historic Chicago hotel, Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel has undergone a $170 million renovation to ensure that it includes all of the conveniences and comforts our 21st century guests expect while also preserving our significant history. Clearly “the Chicago hotel the world knows best” has positioned itself for the next era in downtown Chicago accommodations–and the next generation of Palmer House Hilton with a hip and historic outlook.

Potter Palmer was a Chicago business magnate—well-known for various endeavors, including his significant role in the development of downtown Chicago’s iconic State Street. Bertha Honoré Palmer, 23 years Potter’s junior, was a wealthy socialite who also had a drive to learn and succeed. An introduction by Potter’s former business partner, Marshall Field, sparked a romance—and eventual engagement—between Potter and Bertha that led to perhaps one of the most extravagant wedding gifts of all time – Palmer House. It was a grand Chicago Hotel—one destined to take its place among the most luxurious hotels in Chicago and beyond. World-class hotels offering a vibrant atmosphere, exceptional events and personalized service tailored to the needs of today’s sophisticated traveler.

Law Firm Websites: A Complete Guide 2024

law firm website design

It’s never been more important to ensure your website looks and performs well on all devices, including phones and tablets. Combined with custom, buyer persona-driven messaging and branding, your website will persuade visitors to engage with you. Law firm websites run the gamut — some are modern, featuring youthful illustrations, while others take themselves a bit too seriously.

Ethical considerations when marketing your law firm website

law firm website design

And if you optimize your website for the right keywords, those leads are more qualified than any other source. The inclusion of client testimonials adds a personal touch and reinforces the firm’s credibility and effectiveness in defending complex criminal cases. For example, this might mean putting all the vital information above the fold, so visitors don’t have to scroll down before they find what they’re looking for. Or, it could be a user-friendly navigation menu that allows them to immediately find relevant information.

How scalable are website builders?

This is an effective way to cut through legal jargon and get straight to the point. Your potential clients will want to contact you to properly explain their situation. Awards and accolades help potential clients quickly understand that you’re a professional capable of handling their legal problems. Like any website, the design of your law firm website has to be up to scratch. Not only should it be aesthetic, it should also reflect your firm’s brand identity and help direct customers to the information that is relevant to them (utilizing things like RSS feeds). This minimalistic design includes plenty of white space, putting the emphasis on the information and details that really matter.

Sleek and minimalist legal web design

BKLW’s website is minimal, professional, and uses a number of full-width images. This gives the entire site a modern, but reserved feel, which is exactly what a law firm is usually aiming for. So, you shouldn’t make them read long introductory paragraphs or hide your contact information deep on a different page. Make it easy for visitors to your website to quickly understand what you offer and how to contact you. If your law practice involves dealing with individuals’ personal issues (e.g. divorce), a personal approach like Vaught Law firm’s can be a great move. To do so, choose a website color scheme and font combination that will evoke the essence of your brand and give you a professional look.

Just as every legal practice is unique, there is no one best law firm website. Each has pros and cons, serves different purposes, and has different audiences. Deciding what’s right for your law firm website is based on your own goals.

Rule 7.1 Communications Concerning a Lawyer's Services

In addition, it assists law firms with revamping their websites to make them more user-friendly. The site’s professional design, client testimonials, and clear calls to action make it easy for visitors to understand the firm’s services and reach out for help. With a strong emphasis on their successful track record and client satisfaction, the website effectively markets the firm’s services and expertise in personal injury law. It designs and develops mobile-responsive websites and offers hosting and maintenance services.

By hiring a legal website design agency, you can focus on your firm. You can keep your focus on the daily needs of your firm while a web design company constructs your perfect website. Your law firm website’s content is an essential piece of the puzzle. It’s what attracts and engages a potential client, encouraging them to sign up for your newsletter or book a free consultation. A website should be the hub of your law firm’s marketing activity. When you think of branding, you probably think of logos, colors, and catchphrases.

You can think of your law firm web design as a sort-of online storefront or business card. If someone is searching for a service you provide, or perhaps they’re trying to find more information after hearing about you from a friend, they’ll likely go online to try and find your website. You want to make sure that you have a designated space online where potential clients can find you.

The firm provides real-time data analytics and monitors visitor engagement using a call tracking software program. Attorney Marketing Network carries over 10 years of experience in the industry. Legal Brand Marketing has been catering to clients in the Los Angeles area since 2004. Its team helps law firms improve their online presence so that they get more clients. The company's developers design websites, manage social media campaigns, and create pay-per-click ads. They also generate leads in various legal practice areas, such as DUI, criminal defense, family law, personal injury suits, and taxation.

A website that doesn't display well on a mobile device may get limited traffic from Google as a result.

After not having much luck on the 21st floor, I headed down to 12, where I encountered an error every time, even though I added a valid credit card number. With my Honors number attached, I did have access to my usual Diamond benefits, though, which was a very nice surprise! That meant executive-lounge access (or free breakfast downstairs), free Wi-Fi and a modest upgrade. While the hotel was kind enough to add my Honors number to the Hotels.com booking — it never hurts to ask! — I wasn't able to earn Hilton points for the first two nights of my stay.

During the Tiki culture fad of the 1950s and 1960s, as many as 25 Trader Vic's restaurants were in operation worldwide. Beyond the exquisite libations, Lockwood Bar serves as a portal to an era steeped in elegance and refinement. It is a testament to the preservation of the history of the longest continually operating hotel in America. With a whopping 1,641 guest rooms, The Palmer House is big — gigantic, even. As a result, things tended to get lost in the shuffle, from the lounge coffee machine often being empty to staff requests (or even phone calls from the room) going unanswered. Aside from the upgrade and free buffet, having the staff add my Honors number also let me text the hotel through the Hilton app — a great feature, at least in theory.

The hotel offered an array of Crabtree & Evelyn amenities, including soap, shampoo and body lotion, plus a hair dryer and plenty of washcloths and towels. While I was all prepared to have to check in the hip and historic way — in person at the front desk — a mobile key magically appeared on my day of arrival.

Despite receiving confirmation in the app, our "Champagne" and chocolate-covered strawberries weren't in the room as I expected and weren't delivered later in the night. After a couple of follow-ups they finally showed up the next day, but with prosecco, instead of Champagne. While I normally wouldn't complain about not receiving an amenity that isn't guaranteed, I was excited about surprising my girlfriend on Valentine's Day, so I was bummed that the spread hadn't arrived as promised.

HTubman Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park U S. National Park Service

In 1903 as she was unable to make tax payments on the property, she donated it to the AME Zion Church with the condition that the church would continue to operate the home, that way her dream would outlive her. It took 5 years to fully staff and equip the home and on June 23, 1908 the Harriet Tubman Home for the Elderly was inaugurated. Tubman continued to live in her residence until her health deteriorated and could not take care of herself. The community rallied around Harriet and made plans to build a new brick house for her. Constructed between 1881 and 1882, the new brick house we see today was erected on a foundation of cut Onondaga limestone laid upon the subsurface rubble stone footing of the old house.

The Saga of Harriet Tubman, "The Moses of Her People"

This brick building was where Tubman and her family lived during their time in Auburn. Unfortunately, as of the summer of 2019, the home was undergoing renovations and wasn’t open to the public to tour. Hopefully someday soon, the house will be open for tours as it would be really neat to see the inside of where Tubman lived. In 1859, Tubman bought a piece of land in Auburn, New York from Senator (and future Secretary of State) William H. Seward. This land was where she and her family lived for much of the rest of their lives.

But it could also be a song of liberation, where the lyrics held coded messages that told of when Underground Railroad conductors like Harriet Tubman would arrive to assist in stealing away to freedom. This is a small-scale version of Saar’s 13 feet tall monument to Harriet Tubman that stands in Harriet Tubman Memorial Plaza, in south Harlem at St. Nicholas Avenue and Frederick Douglass Boulevard at West 122nd Street. Harriet Tubman was guided by a deep faith and devotion to family, freedom, and community.

HISTORY Vault: Black History

For two weeks, a dozen archaeologists traipsed through the muddy swamps of Maryland's Eastern Shore, looking for Ben's 10 - a 10-acre plot of land left to Ben Ross, Harriet Tubman's father. He was an enslaved lumberjack and timber foreman who, after the death of his slaveholder, was granted his freedom, the house he lived in and a 10-acre piece of land. Harriet Tubman would buy a second, 25-acre parcel from the lot next to her homesite in 1896 using the profits from her second biography.

Babies, Beauty, and Bravery: Black Excellence on the Covers of The Crisis

During this period, the dream of freedom had spread across antebellum plantations and Tubman’s visions were no different. First, her father was set free when she was about eighteen, and then she also learned that the last will of her previous owner manumitted Tubman’s family. However, her new owner refused to acknowledge this and Tubman’s mother, Tubman herself and her siblings remained in bondage.

The park in Auburn was established on January 10, 2017 at a signing ceremony at the US Department of the Interior in Washington, DC. US Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell was joined by New York lawmakers and local and federal officials in creating the 51st National Historical Park and the 414th US national park system unit. Nelson Davis, Tubman’s second husband, was a brick maker and helped rebuild her house. He replaced the original wood structure with brick, making it stronger and longer lasting. Overall, it’s worth taking the time to visit the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park in Auburn, NY. While tours sadly don’t go into her actual home, they offer a wealth of information and really helped me to better understand and appreciate the life and impact of Harriet Tubman.

To memorialize and ensure sustainability of her work, Harriet Tubman wanted to see her home established as an incorporated organization that would continue in her name. When Harriet Tubman purchased her 7-acre parcel from Frances Seward in 1859, the transfer of land to a self-emancipated person was illegal under the Fugitive Slave Act. Frances Seward was breaking the law and taking a large risk to help Harriet Tubman have her own land. Frances (correctly) thought that since her husband, William Seward, was a powerful politician in New York State that no action would be taken against them. A historical marker on Maryland's Eastern Shore contains errors about the story of Harriet Tubman, who grew up nearby.

Personal objects like her hymnal reveal her domestic life as a wife and mother, and the devout religious beliefs that inspired her to “conduct” hundreds of African Americans to freedom from bondage. After approximately 13 trips south, rescuing 70 enslaved persons, the "Woman called Moses" settled in Auburn. Come and experience the indomitable spirit of this remarkable woman at the Home for the Aged, the Tubman residence, the Infirmary ruins and related sites.

Born into slavery between about 1820 and 1825, Tubman grew up in antebellum Dorchester County. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, she was forced to work from a young age, alternatively acting as a nursemaid, a field hand, a cook and a woodcutter. Tasked with degrading duties, Tubman often disregarded orders, leading her overseers to switch her from domestic assignments to more arduous labor in the fields. Nearby, Schablitsky unearthed ceramic fragments dated to between the 1820s and 1840s.

Tubman helps people of all ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds who have experienced relationship violence, sexual exploitation, homelessness, mental and chemical health challenges, and other trauma. She provided crucial intelligence to Union commanders about Confederate Army supply routes and troops and helped liberate enslaved people to form Black Union regiments. The 1850 Fugitive Slave Act allowed fugitive and freed workers in the north to be captured and enslaved. This made Harriet’s role as an Underground Railroad conductor much harder and forced her to lead enslaved people further north to Canada, traveling at night, usually in the spring or fall when the days were shorter. Portraits of Harriet Tubman in the NMAAHC collection document her as a woman, as a wife and mother, and as a caretaker. Observing these images of Tubman at different stages of her life provides further context for her story and legacy. These images give the famed Underground Railroad conductor a more tangible connection to the significant role of Black women’s activism and highlights the way images shape how we remember important Black women.

Tubman, known as the Moses of Her People, was a courageous fighter who delivered hundreds of slaves to freedom on her Underground Railroad and promoted black education, social betterment, and women's rights. In 1857, she moved to Auburn where she was provided a two-story brick home by William H. Seward, the US Senator from New York. As a conductor on the Underground Railroad (a network of abolitionists that helped slaves escape to freedom), she made a dozen trips south over a period of 11 years. Tubman died in 1913 at her South Street property, and is buried at Fort Hill Cemetery. The present-day site includes a Welcome Center and the Harriet Tubman Home for the Aged. Rewards were offered by slaveholders for Tubman’s capture, while Abolitionists celebrated her courage.

Leach was a political leader and editor of the Ocean Wave newspaper, where he often wrote accounts of enslaved people that fled to Cape May. In addition to leading more than 300 enslaved people to freedom, Harriet Tubman helped ensure the final defeat of slavery in the United States by aiding the Union during the American Civil War. She served as a scout and a nurse, though she received little pay or recognition. Between 1850 and 1860, Tubman made over a dozen journeys across the Mason-Dixon line, guiding family and friends from slavery to freedom.

The community opening for the church and the parsonage next door, also part of the park, is set for June 22. She spent the last 50 years of her remarkable life in Auburn, New York, a haven for a number of progressive causes. It was where William Henry Seward, President Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of State, and his wife, Frances, offered their friendship and support. When Tubman was around 12 or 13 years old, she sustained a life-changing injury. After she refused to help an overseer restrain another enslaved person, he threw an iron weight at the man in hopes of stopping him. But the weight struck Tubman in the head, delivering a glancing blow whose aftereffects plagued her for the rest of her life.

Tubman knew that in order for Brodess’s wife to pay her husband’s debts, she needed to sell some of her slaves. Tubman did not want to be sold away from her family and into the even more brutal conditions of slavery in the deep South. In the fall of 1849, she escaped from slavery alone, and found freedom in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In Philadelphia, Tubman made connections and found support among other black and white abolitionists.

In 2009, Charles L. Blockson, a historian and expert on the Underground Railroad, donated to the Museum a collection of items relating to Harriet Tubman’s life and legacy that were collected and given to him by Tubman’s descendants. Items such as a fork and knife from the Tubman household demystify and ground Tubman, giving her a sense of personhood. Tubman is depicted on the cover as a fierce and courageous figure, and the danger of her work as conductor is palpable in the rifle she carries to protect herself and those she leads to freedom.

A proposed 500-mile Underground Railroad Corridor across New York would highlight the life of Harriet Tubman, who escaped slavery in Maryland in 1849 and then returned on numerous occasions to help free more enslaved people. After the Civil War Tubman settled in Auburn and began taking in orphans and the elderly, a practice that eventuated in the Harriet Tubman Home for Indigent Aged Negroes. The home later attracted the support of former abolitionist comrades and the citizens of Auburn, and it continued in existence for some years after her death. Tubman also became involved in various other causes, including women’s suffrage.

Harriet Tubman (born c. 1820, Dorchester county, Maryland, U.S.—died March 10, 1913, Auburn, New York) was an American bondwoman who escaped from slavery in the South to become a leading abolitionist before the American Civil War. She led dozens of enslaved people to freedom in the North along the route of the Underground Railroad—an elaborate secret network of safe houses organized for that purpose. When the Civil War began, Tubman worked for the Union Army, first as a cook and nurse, and then as an armed scout and spy. For her guidance of the raid at Combahee Ferry, which liberated more than 700 enslaved people, she is widely credited as the first woman to lead an armed military operation in the United States. After the war, she retired to the family home on property she had purchased in 1859 in Auburn, New York, where she cared for her aging parents. She was active in the women's suffrage movement until illness overtook her and was admitted to a home for elderly African Americans, which she helped establish years earlier.

A primed field hand, she was described as a “small, muscular woman” standing at 4’11”, yet carrying half cords of wood like any other man in the fields. She was often seen with her skirt looped around her waist and a vividly colored bandanna tied around her head. Most Americans are familiar with the name and heroism of Underground Railroad conductor and Civil War spy Harriet Tubman. So Maryland Department of Transportation archaeologist Julie Schablitsky set out to find the lost site in Dorchester County, Md. The Harriet Tubman Home, Inc. is an independent non-profit established by the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church to manage and operate the homestead of Ms. Tubman. The Harriet Tubman Home is charged with sharing Harriet Tubman's core values with visitors through a guided tour of the property.

Her family would travel between St. Catharines and Auburn depending on which was safest for them at the time. Canada had outlawed slavery by this time and becomes a haven for African American freedom seekers. Her brothers would settle in St. Catharines in Canada in a community of other Black freedom seekers.

A pioneer in what it means to be regarded as an icon, Harriet Tubman served as a physical manifestation of liberation for many. On the bicentennial of her birth, this dynamic woman of many trades continues to be revered as an American hero and a symbol of freedom. Objects related to Harriet’s life highlight her impact on her contemporaries—such as the shawl gifted to her by Queen Victoria to acknowledge her international impact.

Over the course of her illustrious life, Tubman directly rescued 70 slaves during 13 trips back to slave-holding states. For the decade following her escape to freedom, Harriet Tubman devoted her energy to helping her friends and family attain their own emancipation. As the most famous conductor on the Underground Railroad, she was almost constantly on the move between Canada and Maryland. In that time, she rarely had an opportunity to establish a home base for herself.

Early in life, she suffered a traumatic head wound when an irate overseer threw a heavy metal weight, intending to hit another slave, but hit her instead. The injury caused dizziness, pain, and spells of hypersomnia, which occurred throughout her life. After her injury, Tubman began experiencing strange visions and vivid dreams, which she ascribed to premonitions from God. These experiences, combined with her Methodist upbringing, led her to become devoutly religious. She soon returned to the south to lead her niece and her niece’s children to Philadelphia via the Underground Railroad. At one point, she tried to bring her husband John north, but he’d remarried and chose to stay in Maryland with his new wife.

Harriet was heartbroken when not only did John refuse to come with her, but he had also moved on and married another woman. She would be successful in rescuing her elderly parents, Ben and Rit, and bringing them to Canada after they were facing prosecution for helping others escape. Auburn, NY was a hub for abolitionists in the mid-1800s and had ties to Philadelphia, PA where Harriet Tubman lived immediately after she escaped from slavery in Maryland. While in Philadelphia, Harriet met many influential abolitionists, including William Still, the African American Purvis extended family, Lucretia Coffin Mott, and Frederick Douglass. William Still would keep records of freedom seekers passing through Philadelphia and he interviewed Harriet and her brothers on one of her trips. Harriet’s allies in Philadelphia would aid her greatly in leading her family and friends north.

Between 1850 and 1860, Tubman returned to the Eastern Shore of Maryland 13 times and freed more than 70 family and friends so that they could be free together. Harriet Tubman was an escaped enslaved woman who became a “conductor” on the Underground Railroad, leading enslaved people to freedom before the Civil War, all while carrying a bounty on her head. Tubman is one of the most recognized icons in American history and her legacy has inspired countless people from every race and background. In the wooden home already on the property, Harriet Tubman’s parents, brothers, nieces, and nephews would be protected by her powerful abolitionist friends during the Civil War. Harriet rescued her brothers, James, John, and William and some of their family members in 1854 when she received word that they might be sold.

In fact,Tubman’s mother who spent the winter of 1857 and 1858 in Canada was happy to move, she found Canadian winters unbearable. When Tubman left for the Civil War her parents, who were old and fragile, stayed in Auburn and were looked after by friends. Kuhl added that the corridor could also boost tourism efforts around the state, including along the Erie Canal. Frost said she had relatives who used to live on Parker Street, so she remembers the area being filled with people attending church services, dressed to the nines in their Sunday best.

Tubman had been living in North Street in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada West since 1851; that was her home and her base of operation. She had brought her parents and her entire family to St. Catharines where they lived safe from slave catchers. But Tubman could not resist the offer and in 1858 Tubman and Senator Seaward sealed the deal for $1,200.

The threat of her family’s separation and her difficult marriage forced Tubman to take action. On September 17, 1849, Tubman and her two brothers set out to escape the plantation, heading north. Her brothers soon turned back, and Tubman completed her journey alone with the help of the Underground Railroad on the nearly hundred-mile journey to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But her dreams of flying over corn and cotton, the North Star beckoning, did not end with her finding liberty.

The Best Nail Art For Short Nails

design nail designs

The daydreaming doodles you've drawn on the margins of your notebook page can actually serve as inspiration for your at-home manicure, as demonstrated by nail artist Kate Bonar. Lastly, she emphasizes checking that the design is 100 percent dry "before sealing [it] in with topcoat to ensure no smudges." After painting a base coat of your favorite color—we like the subtle navy shimmer shown here—use a detail brush to add a white contrast dot. These days, many people prefer to do their nails at home because it's a form of self-care and, above all, it's cheaper, says nail artist Sigourney Nuñez.

Neutral Mismatched Acrylic Nails

Going back to the basics can be classic, elegant, and not at all boring—nail art included. Sometimes the nail designs that we love—and quite possibly need—are the quietest type. Think negative space, small dots, French tips, fresh colors, glitter accents, and more.

Ombre Nails

Their enduring presence is a testament to their rock-solid durability and considerable versatility. So whether you're looking for extra length or just itching for a hit of nostalgia, know that acrylic nails are still a great option. Ahead, we've rounded up 55 cool acrylic nail ideas that will turn heads no matter the season or occasion. As opposed to just lining the tips of your nails with white polish, try a combination of three colors. There are a variety of shades to choose from, but we especially love this mix of white, gray, and black, as it creates an intriguing gradient-like pattern. A barely there base keeps the look clean while layered white and blue dots build the perfect evil eye art.

DIY Paper Transfer Nail Art Tutorial

To DIY the look, use Butter London Glazen Peel-Off Glitter Lacquer ($12) in shades Gold Rush and Supernova. "This look screams spring," says Canishiea J. Sams of this fun graphic design she created featuring two floral accent nails. You’ll need to upload a photo from your album to use the AI Replace feature. Find a photo of your hand showing your nails so that you can get a good view of the design. Then, adjust your brush size and brush over one of your fingertips. Don’t do them all at once — you’ll get a better result if you do one at a time for a more consistent look.

Of course, the tools you use are just as important as the colors you choose, which is why she says to reach for thin-tipped detail brushes when drawing the faces. "The small brush gives you the ability to paint thin lines," she says. "I always apply at least two thin coats of polish and let each layer dry completely before the next," Zheng says. "It's easy to just apply one thick coat, but the polish actually takes longer to dry and imperfections are more prominent if you use that method."

Three-Dimensional French

We're dreaming about all the ways we can incorporate this must-try nail look into our going-out outfits. Mix a classic brand with modern neon and you have yourself a match made in nail heaven. Butterflies remind us of all things bella—Bella Hadid and a beautiful life, that is. If you're all about the fluttery, flirty look, consider trying this acrylic nail idea. Adding nail jewelry is an easy way to enhance your acrylic mani. This septum piercing tip brings a whole lot of edge to the silver-tipped French manicure.

We've shown you plenty of variations on this theme, but there's still room for a classic polka dot pattern in your easy nail art arsenal. If you look closely, these delicate dots are actually specks from a confetti polish—all the better to make a fun look even easier. Drawing faces on your nails might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think nail-art designs, but they sure look pretty damn cute if you ask us.

If you really want to make a statement, consider acrylics that glow in the dark. These look fairly normal during the day, but you'll be the life of your next party or night out when everyone sees the nails' true power. These acrylic ballerina nails might look low-key and neutral, but two butterfly wings make the look a bit more bold without going overboard. The intricacy of these wings is almost as beautiful as butterflies themselves. With that in mind, here is Vogue’s guide to some of the best designs for short nails.

We love inverted, mismatched manis, especially when they're somewhat uniform. Paint your base color, then add either a French tip or a "U" shape at the cuticle in the opposite shade, and finish by adding a dot. Your nails can look like an actual piece of Yayoi Kusama's modern art with minimal effort.

When recreating this look on your own, opt for gold flake appliqués (which stick to your nail polish and are set with top coat) instead of trying to hand-paint the details on your own. All American and avant-garde, these acrylic nails are quite literally the cherry on top of a perfect mani. If you don't love the summery delight, consider swapping them for berries, coconuts, or your favorite citrus fruit.

Nail stripe stickers can make achieving this look even easier. For more interesting shapes, like curves or lines, Taylor suggests using her eponymous Striper Brush ($22). It features stripes over top half-painted nails, providing inspiration for a way to make your mani last longer as it grows out. "If you've mastered #02, you're on your way to this design," says Oung. In fact, Roveena admits that she always uses paint for small, detailed designs.

design nail designs

Bejewel your nails for a minimum-effort, maximum-impact design. Long coffin nails make a great canvas to go wild with jewels but this look can also be adapted to shorter nails. We love a good nail sticker because they are a cinch to put on any jazz up any style.

Another design idea for shorter tips, baby French tips are a modern, chic take on the classic manicure. If you're interested in trying the look at home, check out Lights Lacquer's game-changing tutorial. These bright colors may seem like a lot, but they actually look incredibly chic and subtle in tiny flower form. This spring nail design takes traditionally delicate florals and gives them an extra-fun vibe we love. You don't need a full wash of color or floral nail art to have an uplifting spring nail design.

If you loved last year's milky nails, you'll want to get on board with the frombré trend at your next appointment. Scroll ahead for more French ombre nail ideas we've saved. Forget what Pinterest and YouTube tutorials have tried to convince you because finding easy nail designs to recreate at home is not, in fact, that easy. And that's a big bummer when you get a big kick out of having elaborate nails.

Invisible French manicures use a statement-making polish shade to outline where a typical French tip would be — and these fine gold lines are as pretty as they come. Although these are technically classic white French tips, the heart-shaped cutouts and chromatic details make this set anything but basic. Hop on the coquette ribbon nail art wave with these ultra-thin black bows painted right where a French tip would normally begin. The half-moons are easy, especially with a guide like hole-punch stickers. For a more unexpected take, try using black polish, as seen here.

25 Simple Nail Designs 2024 Easy Nail Art Trends to Try

design nail designs

Here, nails are layered in zebra stripes (the stripes are in the same color family as each base nail, so try something similar to replicate the mani). With this acrylic nail idea, you can see how stunning the pairing can be. If you feel like you've tried everything under the sun when it comes to acrylic nail art, it's time to take things to another dimension. The bubble texture and deep iridescence will have everyone staring, and is great for Halloween or any season you want something more avant-garde. Maybe it's just us, but these metallic, almond-shaped nails remind us of all things Sailor Moon. We love this modern take on a French manicure, with a rainbow of primary colors in checkerboard patterns.

Ballerina Pink Acrylic Nails

design nail designs

To get in on the look while it's still topping the nail art charts, consider this acrylic sunset manicure as your inspiration. We're off to the races with this nail design, which looks as if you dipped each finger into a different shade of the checkerboard flag found at finish lines. One of the great things about having shorter nails is playing with delicate artwork that could otherwise get lost on longer lengths. Embrace the trend for microfine designs and opt for suitably summery motifs like wispy floral garlands and evil eyes.

We love this simple nail design from Paintbox because of the pretty contrast between matte and metallic shades. The triangle peeking out from the side is an interesting twist. You can find Vivid AI in the App Store or on Google Play, where you can download it with one tap. Open the app to get started, and you’ll see all of the app’s AI features on the main screen, ready for you to explore. These gold chrome petals are perfectly balanced with a matte nude base for a dynamic and stunning manicure. It's clear that the neon makeup trend isn't going anywhere, and nails aren't an exception to the new rule.

Chrome Tips

New York City-based nail artist Gina Edwards says she likes to use a pointed kitchen knife to drag wet polishes into fun patterns in the same way. Make your nails radiate for days with this twist on a French mani. After allowing a neutral base coat to set, paint three black lines—one right at the tip, the next a small distance below, and finally near the base.

How To Do French Ombre Nails

Dip your tips in gold chrome nail polish for an elegant look. With the holiday season right around the corner, we think this shimmering shade will be perfect for your upcoming festivities. And if you don’t trust yourself with a nail polish brush, save these ideas for your next trip to the nail salon. Airbrush nails started gaining traction last year, but it looks like they aren’t slowing down any time soon. Both Le and Kandalec predict that airbrushing will be all over people’s tips this spring—Kandalec points out that it's the technique used to create the TikTok famous aura nails. Though it may look complicated, she says that “you can recreate this look at home using a makeup sponge.” Check out her tutorial to start emanating high vibrational energy.

Each nail was practically painted in every color of the rainbow with nail polishes from Dimension Nails. If you're not willing to try your hand at a design that requires additional tools beyond your bottle of polish, then this manicure is for you. Caitlin Gladney-Hatcher used a polish called Finch Me I’m Dreaming from a brand called Wildflower Lacquer. Gladney-Hatcher says that it applies to the nails seamlessly in a matter of two coats.

Combine two ever-popular spring looks with slanted French tips and a retro flower design. Brought to life by Mabelyn Martin, the creative director of NYC nail salon Paintbox, it's part of the famed nail studio's Resort '23 capsule. You can request this look at the salon or re-create it at home using this convenient step-by-step tutorial. "For this half-yellow French, I used my Leafgel Long Liner Brush to create the vertical line where I wanted the design to cover," says the manicurist. For an earthy vibe with a bit of warmth, go for shades of deep brown-ish purple.

But you don't want things to be too earthy, so the look still taps into the sign's love of all things luxe. "I'd keep it earthy with cool tones with a hint of glimmer like sheen, chrome, or cat eye," says Chue. "Maybe a small rhinestone or two to reflect their luxurious side."

This may be a simple nail design, but if you ask us, it deserves its own place in an art museum. For a maximalist look, consider taking your nails 3D, as New York City-based nail artist Miss Pop did when she created this double-take-worthy design. Don't worry, it's not as hard to achieve as it might appear. All you have to do is stack gel (Miss Pop prefers OPI gel color). Create shapes or lines after your base and first color coat are down and then keep stacking gel layers with the same design. After a few coats, you'll have a tactile, psychedelic result.

design nail designs

The varying size of each dot creates extra interest in the manicure without making it any more difficult to recreate. Dip a toothpick in black polish to bring this museum-worthy mani to life. To achieve this without the help of a pro, paint your nails whatever colors you like, making sure to add an abstract element to your middle two fingers. You can do any shape or design you like, but a dotting tool and a fine-line brush will definitely help.

In addition to a detailer brush, the kit includes a marbling and dotting tool, along with a striping brush. New York City-based nail artist Miss Pop has a similar hack for dots using a tailor's pin. She pushes the pointed tip into an eraser for a better grip, then dips the rounded head of the pin into nail polish.

Long nails may be all the rage right now, but there’s definitely still space for short nails to have their moment. As stars like Sofia Richie Grainge can attest, short nails can be just as elegant and chic as their lengthier counterparts. If you work a lot with your hands, short nails present far more of a practical option than long talons, plus they work well with a more natural beauty look, if that’s your aesthetic.
